Getting married to a girl overseas and planning to travel out of the country..?

I’m getting married to a girl overseas from laos in a few month or so from now and planning to travel to Paris after our marriage…..
Is it possible?

I heard it’s going to take up to about 5 years until she can travel with me, true?
if not or if so, then explain why…

just thought it might be a thing where she can’t come with me because she just got here the U.S, but iono…
let me know

thanks

No, it won’t take that long. Just as soon as you get married, make sure she goes to the Immigration office and signs up to be a resident, then they’ll ask her questions, and in like a year, she’ll be all set and they’ll make sure you guys are still together, then after that year, she can travel where she likes. Check with the immigration people. They’ll give you the informatin. But you have to actually go there as soon as possible. As an American you can make her into an American, but it takes time, but in the meantime she’ll be a resident and she’ll get privileges so long as you stay married together.

Want to share Vacation ideas for families?

We want to take a vacation with our kids this spring but we are lacking ideas on what to do. Please share where you vacation or where you want to vacation so we can get ideas.

Our kids are 4, 2 and 6 months. We love road trips so driving is not a big deal!
Disney is an obvious choice…but we want to wait until the kids are a little older to do that adventure.

We go on several vacations every year, we love to travel to new places. Next month we are headed to Tennessee to vacation in The Smokey Mountains. Scenic drives, beautiful sights and hiking trails and aquariums and zoos for the kids. We are staying in Gatlinburg and Chattanooga. Our 4 year old loves trains and Chattanooga has all types of scenic trains rides.

This fall we are renting an RV and exploring South Dakota. Mount Rushmore is somewhere I have never been. There are a lot of little attractions in SD that we are excited to see, like The Corn Palace and Wall Drug Store!

We love to just drive and see everything, you miss a lot of cool stuff when you fly!

What’s the cheapest way to travel from London to Nottingham return?

I want to travel to Nottingham for a few days to see my sister in April and I don’t know the cheapest way to get there. I have a 16-25 railcard but have found that the cheapest train fare costs too much even with that. I’ve also looked at travelling by coach but that’s not much cheaper either. I don’t want to spend anymore than £30. Does anyone know the cheapest way to get there?

A return fare with National Express coaches in April, costs £23.70, for an "amendable but not refundable ticket".
However, if possible, why not try to visit your sister before the end of February, when a return "funfare" will cost you just £10.00p return.

What’s the best place for a young adult to travel on a budget?

Just curious what everyone has to say. Planning on traveling soon but really can’t decide where to go.

Where do you live?

It may seem like a dumb question, but traveling to your destination is probably going to be one of your biggest expenses.

Suggestions:
- Travel during the off season
- Backpack and stay in hostels
- If going to Europe, buy a train pass (buy in US as it is cheaper than buying there). If you plan right, you can sleep on train, saving a night of lodging.
- Cook food at the hostels
- Find someone to travel with - cuts down on expenses immensely
- Pack lightly

Right now, two of the cheapest countries to travel to are Iceland and Thailand

Have fun

What is the minimum budget I should have for rail travel between Poland and Gibraltar?

I’m thinking of getting involved in a two week backpacking trip going from Poznan, Poland through Germany, France and Spain to Gibraltar. Obviously the majority of this will have to be by train. I’ve been told £350 is a good enough budget to do this on including food and lodgings (not counting travel to and from the UK). Is that accurate? Can it be any lower, or should I really have a higher budget in mind? If you could direct me to any sites for me to confirm your suggestions I’d be really grateful, thanks.

Your budget depends on two different things, one is the cost of travel. If you are British, or have lived in Britain for more than 6 months, you can buy an InterRail pass, or you can buy point to point tickets if that is cheaper.

The second thing is the amount of days you will spend on the travel, and how many of those will actually be in the train. And of course, what kind of accommodation do you want, in the train and outside it.

For train travel, the site of the man in seat sixty-one has a lot of information, mostly for travel to and from the UK, but a lot more too: http://www.seat61.com/
His rail passes page is worth reading, click on the word ‘rail passes’ at the top of the home page.

If you click on one of the countries on the left bar you get a page on how to get there from England, but each page starts with some useful links, the rail planner for the country among them.
For general planning I prefer the German planner in English, it works on time table information in most of Europe. And for travel to, in and out of Germany it also gives prices, at least to one of the main cities abroad.

If you want to compare the price of a pass with that of tickets, for your travel I would cut the planning in several smaller bits, Poznan to somewhere in Germany, best pick a city you would like to stay overnight, or know you will have to change trains. Next Germany to somewhere in France, and France to in Spain and lastly, Spain to the station nearest Gibraltar.
If you want to travel within the next 3 months, check it on the date you want to travel. If you want to travel later, check on a date almost three months from now, as the rail companies will not sell tickets for later.

I give you some links for the rail planners, France and Spain in the local language, France as I find that one much better than the English language version, it is a different kind of site.
Spain because I can not find an English language option, but as far as I know there is one.

Remember that all high speed trains with a possible exeption for Germany, require big surcharges when traveling on a rail pass. Same with overnight trains where you opt for a place to lay down, sitting up through the night is often only a few euro/pound.

Budget wise, for each night you want to spend in a hostel, count about 15 pound, more in major cities. Three meals per day, about 50 pound, less in Poland, more in Paris. If you want to eat cooked dinner in the train, you might need to spend more, as you will not have much choice in the ‘restaurant’. But you can buy take out meals and supermarket picnics and eat those in the train to, cutting back on the amount needed.

I would try to have 75 pound per day spend in the train, and 25 pound more for those cities where you spend time sight seeing.
Which comes to about 1000 pound at least.

On the other hand, if you sleep in the seat, take the slower trains for which you do not need to pay surcharges, buy cheap food from supermarkets, you might be able to make it for that 350 pound. If you aim for that, make sure you can get at more money, as you will not have enough in case something goes wrong.
